The Institution’s Innovation Council, Paavai Engineering College in association with Department of Biomedical Engineering organized a Guest lecture on “Innovation and Design Thinking” on 18th April, 2023 with Dr.P.Srinivasan, Professor-Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam, India, as the resource person. This Guest lecture session was coordinated by Professor Dr.K.Sundara Murthy along with Dr. R. Mohana Priya and other faculty members. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College delivered the Presidential Address on the occasion. The guest speaker shared his knowledge on design thinking and innovation among the students and the faculty members with many examples. Dr.P.Srinivasan explained the difference between Design thinking, Innovation and the various government and private schemes available to fund these categories of Innovative ideas. He further explained how to be an Entrepreneur from idea pitching and then convert a prototype into startup. He also gave examples how even school and college students are able to generate innovative ideas for startups. The session was very energetic, interactive and informative. He answered the questions raised by the students. The program came to an end with the vote of thanks. The Management, Director-Admin, Principal and Staff members provided all the support to make the event a very successful one.
