The Youth Red Cross of Paavai Engineering College in association with Institution’s Innovation Council and Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board celebrated “World Environment Day ” on 5th June 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to create awareness among the students for a healthy ecosystem. Dr.Shekar Kumar Niraj, I.F.S., Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Biodiversity) & Secretary , Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board,Chennai was the chief guest and Dr. Israel Oliver King.E.D (Director – Biodiversity) M.S Swaminathan Research foundation Chennai and Mr.M. Thilai Sivakumar (RERO)- Namakkal were the Guest speakers. The inauguration started with a warm welcome to the dignitaries and audience. The welcome address was given by Dr.R.Mohana Priya, Convener, Institution’s Innovation Council, Paavai Engineering College.
Dr. Israel Oliver King guest speaker addressed the students and discussed the significance of the World Environment Day and explained the benefits of millets and its usage. Mr.M.Thilai Sivakumar guest speaker quoted how much the environment health is important for humans. The Chief guest Dr.Shekar Kumar Niraj, I.F.S., gave a talk about the importance and awareness of the different safety measures to protect the environment. He also illuminated the students with the importance of biodiversity and threats caused if not protected. They also encouraged the students to keep the environment clean and green . At the end, the Chief guest and the guest speakers cleared the students’ queries. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shanmathi.V from III-year Electronic and communication Engineering. The Principal, Heads of various Departments, Mr. S. Sathish, YRC Coordinator, Dr.R.Mohana Priya, Convener, Institution’s Innovation Council, faculty members, various officials from Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board and 520 students have participated in the World Environment Day celebration. The outcome of the celebration was the participants were able to realize the different biodiversity and sustainable life style practices to protect the environment.
