The Department of Cyber Security in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC-PEC) and EDC & The Institution of Engineers (India) organized a hands on training on “MALWARE ANALYSIS “on 08.09.2023 and 09.09.2023. The Resource Persons were Dr. M.B. Mukesh Krishnan Professor,Dr. V. Joseph Raymond ,Assistant Professor and Mr. M. Balaji, Programmer Department of Networking and Communications , from SRM Institute of Science and Technology. K. Kumar Jeyanth ,III year Cyber security introduced the technical trainers. R. Dharshini, III year Cyber security gave the welcome address. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College gave the presidential address and emphasized that the outcome of learning process must be positive to enhance the skills,gain knowledge and become more efficient. Dr.P.Muthusamy Head of the Department, Cyber security, Master of Computer Applications motivated the students in improving their talents. The technical trainers described that Malware analysis is not always easy to perform, but it is the intention of understanding of what is involved in malware analysis. The team of technical trainers described about Malware and Analysis. They elucidated about Key Benefits of Malware Analysis They also Differentiated between Static and Dynamic Malware Analysis with real-time examples and explained about Cases. The trainers also insisted upon the benefits of Malware analysis and emerging needs of Security Analysts and incident responders. They also demonstrated on the malware analysis process- about the identifying the sources of the attack, determining the sources of the attack, determining the damage from a security threat, Identifying a malware’s exploitation level, vulnerability, and appropriate patching preparations, Triaging the incidents according to the level of severity of the threat in a practical manner, Uncovering hidden Indicators of Compromise (IOC) that need to be blocked, Improving the efficacy of IOC, alerts, and notifications and Enriching context when trying to uncover threats. The goal of this hands on training is to help students, to know more about malware analysis in real-time practice. The valedictory function was conducted on 09.09.2023. On the whole this training was highly informative on malware analysis. A total of 55 students participated in this workshop. The students felt that this session was interactive with hands-on experience. The function came to an end with vote of thanks. D. Dharini III year, Cyber security delivered the vote of thanks.
