The Centre for Research & Innovation and IQAC of Paavai Engineering College is organizing an Online Lecture Series on “Optimisation Techniques. In this series, on 13.12.23, a topic on “ Applications of GA and ANN” was delivered by Dr.V.Ganapathy, Eminent Professor. The welcome address was given by Dr.I.Rajendran, Dean – Research & Innovation of Paavai Engineering College.
The resource person, in his special lecture explained how complex and difficult problems can be solved using combination of search techniques and heuristics. To illustrate this he took an example of a real-world application where Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) are effectively employed in power system preventive maintenance scheduling using MATLAB.
He took the case study of scheduling problem mentioned above and demonstrated the application of GA, step by step for generating the performance graph among different power stations to solve the power system preventive maintenance scheduling problem. Further he explained how optimization tools are tracked , executed through MATLAB and the performance plots generated from given inputs are analyzed to obtain the best performance for optimal scheduling .
The Heads of various departments, faculty members and students participated in the session and benefitted. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.I.Rajendran, Dean – Research & Innovation in the end. Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Head – IQAC, Prof/Mech and Dr.A.Rathinam, Prof/EEE took care of the arrangements required to organize the program.
