The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology organised an Alumni guest lecture titled “Medical Coding as a career choice” on 27.11.2023. Ms. Pavithra Gnanadurai, Junior Medical Coder, Optum health & technology, Chennai was the resource speaker. She started the session with a motivation story and engaged the students in interaction. She emphasized on the skills one must acquire in order to shine as a medical coder. Her insights on medical coding and other trainings needed gave the students a great thought on that career path. Ms. Pavithra motivated the students to gain skills and experience by presenting papers and getting hands on training. The importance of interview skills and the different levels of interview and the preparation needed were emphasized. The students were able to acquaint themselves with the various roles and procedures as a medical coder. Queries were clarified by the resource speaker.
