The Institution’s Innovation Council(IIC) in association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council CIIC organised a seminar on “Orienting Research To develop Intellectual Property Rights’’ on 26.02.2024 at 11.00 a.m. Dr.R.MohanaPriya, IIC Convener welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource speaker. Dr.I.Rajendiran, Dean, Research and Innovation, Paavai Engineering College presided over the session. Dr.SudarKodi Venkatesan, Head, Centre for IPR and TTO, Crescent Innovation & Incubation Council, CIIC, Chennai was the resource speaker.
In her session, she emphasized the importance of Innovation cycle – Intellectual Property, Research, Royalties, Licensing and Commercial avenues. She also delivered the need for maintaining and improving the quality of patents that are applied through various agencies. She insisted that the idea behind patent application should be novel, inventive and industrially applicable. She elucidated about the research roadmap, patent processing and the various laws and regulations to be followed under different sections and acts. She also gave a gist of the patentable and non-patentable products.
Queries were posted by the participants and clarified by the speaker. It was conducted through online mode and attended by around 50 members in online and 35 members in offline mode from all the departments of Paavai Engineering College. Dr.M.PremKumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, Dr.K.Sundaramoorthy, IQAC Head, EDC and IIC coordinators from various departments attended the session at Cute Hall.
