The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in association with the Department of Information Technology, organized a guest lecture titled “Funding Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” on 17.08.2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about securing financial resources and managing them effectively to achieve entrepreneurial goals.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. K. Vishal Kowsik, a second-year IT student. Ms. R. Yogapriya, also from the second year IT, introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. M. Premkumar, President of IIC, delivered the presidential address, discussing funding opportunities and various initiatives to support budding entrepreneurs.
The guest speaker, Mrs. M. Shanmika, Business Partner/Technical Recruiter at Pivotal Associates, Bangalore, led the session from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. She highlighted the importance of diverse funding sources, including grants, venture capital, angel investors, accelerators, and crowdfunding platforms. She also discussed the startup funding ecosystem, which offers vast opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The event was attended by over 240 participants and concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. S. S. Vishnu Prasath. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. I. Rajendiran, Dean of Research & Innovation, Dr. K. Sundaramurthy, Vice President of IIC, Dr. R. Mohana Priya, Associate Professor of ECE and Convener of IIC, and Dr. P. Pugalenthi, EDC Coordinator, along with other faculty coordinators and students. The session’s outcome was that students gained valuable insights into the steps needed to launch their own startups.
