The Department of Cyber Security, in association with the Institution Innovation Council, organized a Guest Lecture on “Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Enablers” on 17.08.2024. The resource person for the event was Mr. M. Manikandan, Senior Engineer at Aspire Systems India Private Limited, Chennai. S. Varshini, a second-year Cyber Security student, introduced the guest, and R. Dharshana, a third-year Cyber Security student, delivered the welcome address.
Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of constructive learning to enhance skills, gain knowledge, and become more efficient. Dr. P. Muthusamy, Head of the Department of Cyber Security and Master of Computer Applications, encouraged the students to improve their talents and pursue innovative ideas.
The guest lecture highlighted how innovation and startup ecosystem enablers provide significant advantages to both aspiring entrepreneurs and established businesses by offering impactful support mechanisms. These enablers equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges of launching and scaling startups, helping them mitigate risks and seize opportunities effectively. The session was interactive, with participants engaging in real-life case studies and practical strategies that enhanced their understanding of the startup landscape and best practices in innovation management.
The program fostered a collaborative environment, enabling participants to exchange insights and learn from one another’s experiences. Through diverse delivery methods, including hands-on activities, group discussions, and expert presentations, the session ensured active engagement and the practical application of knowledge in real-world scenarios. Additionally, the initiative promoted a culture of entrepreneurship by encouraging growth, creativity, and resilience.
The session was coordinated by faculty members J. Velumani, Associate Professor of Cyber Security, and R. Loganathan, Assistant Professor of Cyber Security. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by R. Shanmugapriyan, a second-year Cyber Security student.
Overall, the session was highly informative on innovation and entrepreneurship. A total of 220 students and 12 faculty members participated, and the students found the session to be interactive and hands-on.
