The Department of Cyber Security and MCA organized a guest lecture on “Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Investigation” on 21.08.2024. The resource person was Mr. Manibharathi Karunakaran, a Cyber Security Professional from the National Cyber Security Research Council, specializing in Cyber Crime and Digital Forensics Investigation, and Founder & CEO of CSUITE Tech Labs, Coimbatore.
R. Dharshana, a third-year Cyber Security student, introduced the technical trainer, and S. Srija, a second-year Cyber Security student, gave the welcome address. Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing that the outcome of the learning process should be positive, enhancing skills, gaining knowledge, and improving efficiency. Dr. P. Muthusamy, Head of the Department of Cyber Security and Master of Computer Applications, motivated students to improve their talents.
The trainer explained that effective investigation helps to recognize and avoid cybercriminals, thereby protecting digital assets and ensuring online safety. He highlighted the importance of using specialized tools and methods to investigate crimes such as hacking, phishing, malware attacks, data breaches, and identity theft. Additionally, the trainer demonstrated the Homoglyph Attack Generator and explained precautionary techniques to combat it.
The goal of this hands-on training was to help students gain practical knowledge in Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Investigation. The valedictory function was held on the same day. Overall, the training was highly informative, with a total of 210 students participating. The students found the session interactive and appreciated the hands-on experience. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by N. Naveen, a second-year Cyber Security student.
