Alumni Guest lecture titled “Navigating the IT Job Market: Essential Skills and Career Strategies” on 16.10.2024. Organized by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal.
The main theme of the lecture was to explore the evolving IT job market, essential skills required for success, and strategies to navigate career growth. Welcome address was given by S.V. Thamaraiselvan, III MCT. Mr. B. Nithish Kumar, Software Development Engineer, M2P Fintech, Chennai was the resource speaker. S. Srikanth, III MCT introduced the resource speaker.
Mr. B. Nithish Kumar highlighted how technologies like AI, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, and Cyber security are driving demand in the IT sector. He explained about Opportunities for freelance work in the IT industry are increasing due to platform-based economies and the need for specialized skills. Also emphasized obtaining industry-recognized certifications to remain competitive. IT professionals should engage in continuous learning via online platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning to stay updated on new technologies and methodologies. Finding a mentor in the IT industry can provide direction for career growth, project management, and professional development. Stay informed on industry trends by reading IT blogs, listening to podcasts, and following thought leaders. There were inquiries on how to keep up with rapid technological changes and tips for working effectively in a remote setup. Around 80 students participated in the guest lecture. Queries were asked and it was clarified by the resource speakers.
