The Department of Physics at Paavai Engineering College organized a one-day online student webinar on “New Age Nanomaterials: Recent Developments in Quantum Dots” on 23rd December 2024.
The webinar was coordinated by Dr. T. Krishnakumar, Professor & Head, Department of Physics, along with Mrs. S. Kavitha and Dr. S. Thangavel, supported by faculty members. Ms. V. Yasicaa from the first-year Aeronautical Engineering department, Paavai Engineering College, warmly welcomed the gathering.
Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, delivered the Presidential Address. Ms. K. Dharanya from the first-year ECE department introduced the chief guest, Dr. S. Senthil Velan, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar.
The session was then handed over to the chief guest, who shared his expertise on nanostructures and explained how nanofibers are formed both naturally and artificially. He also elaborated on the latest applications of quantum dots. Students gained valuable insights into nanostructures and their applications across various fields.
The session was highly engaging and informative. During the interactive segment, participants actively posed questions and clarified their queries.
Dr. K. Selvi, Dean of Academics, delivered the Felicitation Address. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. S. Devipriya from the first-year ECE department.
