The Department of Cyber Security & MCA organized a Guest Lecture on “IDENTITY SECURITY: BEYOND QUICK FIXES TO SYSTEMATIC SOLUTIONS “on 18.02.2025. The Resource person was Mr. PONS MUDIVAI ARUN, Cyber Security Product Leader, Bangalore. Dr. P. Muthusamy, Head of the Department, Cyber Security& MCA and the Professor Mr. R. Loganathan, the faculty coordinator coordinated the event. A. Ajmal Thahseen, III year Cyber security introduced the guest speaker and N. Shalini, III year Cyber security gave the welcome address. Our esteemed guest speaker Mr. Pons Mudivai Arun delivered an insightful lecture on identity theft, security breaches, system security, authentication, and career opportunities in cybersecurity. He explained the importance of identity which has unique attributes such as usernames, biometrics, and digital certificates that distinguish individuals in a system. He emphasized the importance of authentication and access control in safeguarding sensitive information and he highlighted how unauthorized access to data occurs through phishing, malware attacks, and data leaks. He elaborated on managing user credentials, access rights, and authentication methods and highlighted the role of identity security in reducing risks and preventing unauthorized access. He also informed about various roles like ethical hacking, security analysis, and penetration testing. He highlighted the importance of building a successful career by knowing ourselves and assessing our strengths and interests to choose the right career path. Emphasizing teamwork and innovation, he advised the participants to actively contribute ideas and explained that cyber security challenges require collaboration and knowledge sharing. He said that we get trained and experienced through learning from mistakes, and said that, such incidents are opportunities for growth. The session provided valuable insights, inspiring the participants to adopt a proactive approach and continuously develop their skills for success in cybersecurity. The valedictory function was conducted on 18.02.2025. A total of 210 students participated in this Guest Lecture. The Guest Lecture came to an end with the vote of thanks.
