The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology has conducted a Guest Lecture on “Future Opportunities for Pharmaceutical Engineering Graduates on 27.02.2025 (Thursday) at Cute Hall from 02:00PM to 04:00PM. The guest speaker was Dr.P.Selvamani, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Anna University (BIT Campus), Tiruchirappalli.
The Guest lecture started with welcome address delivered by Kavipriya C (second year) followed by Presidential address by the principal. Dr.M.Premkumar sir encouraged the students understand the insights of the course. He explained the importance of personalized medicine and collated with the real life incidents of recent pandemic situation around the globe “COVID”. The guest speaker was introduced by our second year student M.Praveena.
The speaker gave a brief about the establishment history, his experience, struggles during the implementation of B.Tech Pharmaceutical Technology. He mentioned about the importance of Federation of International Pharmacy and different skill development courses provided by Germany. He presented more than 60 plus roles and responsibilities available for the Pharma graduates in the Indian and Global level. The revised Schedule M (GDP in Pharma industry) was discussed and its necessity in employment and economic contribution was disclosed. The other overall topics being discussed were Innovation, R& D employment, Social impact and global influence, Drug discovery and development, Industries for Pharma and Biotechnology.
He insisted the students to update the basics on AI, biotechnology and automation to meet out the need of precision medicine and personalized medicine. He provided awareness about the salary income for pharmaceutical engineering graduates. The other topics discussed were future to fill finish, regulatory challenges and innovation, blockchain supply chain, medical devices and drug delivery system. Dr.Selvamani sir insisted to enrich themselves about modular for laboratories and manufacturing intelligence.
The speaker shared about The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering and various courses provided to both students and faculty. He motivated the student complete certification in PDA, enrol MBA in pharma management, work on digital pharmacy and to analyze pharmaceutical lifecycle management. Finally, the session was open for queries and clarification were our students proactively indulged themselves in updating themselves industrial environment, decision making while selecting their career opportunities. He also provided internship idea in augmented and virtual reality in clinical trial in his lab. Overall, the talk enriched the students to value themselves as a pharmaceutical graduate and upskill their talents.
Overall, the guest lecture was attended by around 85 students of I, II and IV of Pharmaceutical Technology the faculty members. The overall MC session was done by K. Udhyavanan, final year and the vote of thanks was delivered by P.Sobika, second year, Pharmaceutical technology.
The event was organized under the supervision of Dr.R.Praveen Cumar, Head of Pharmaceutical Technology and the staff coordinator was Ms.S.Ilakya, AP, Pharma.
