International Youth Day was observed on 12th August 2025 at M.S. Swaminathan Vayal Kudam, jointly organized by Paavai Organic Farming (POF) and Paavai Velaan Mandram. The program aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and provide students with hands-on farming experience.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by M. Keerthi, IV Year – Agri, Overall Coordinator, Paavai Organic Farming, who emphasized the importance of traditional knowledge and sustainable farming practices, setting a positive tone for the day.
Students actively participated in preparing the paddy nursery, gaining practical exposure to seed selection, soil preparation, and sowing techniques. An exhibition of indigenous seeds and grains cultivated in the Paavai Organic Farm further enriched the learning experience and highlighted the importance of preserving traditional agricultural methods.
Dr. B. Kailashkumar, M.Tech., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, addressed the gathering and provided valuable insights on integrating indigenous farming practices with modern agricultural techniques. The program was efficiently coordinated under the supervision of R. Gopikrishnan, B.E. (Agri.), Teaching Research Associate, and U. Karthickeya, B.E. (Agri.), M.E., PGD A&LD, Assistant Professor & Farm Superintendent, Coordinator – Paavai Organic Farming.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by P. Yogaraj, IV Year – Agri, Student Secretary, Department of Agricultural Engineering, who expressed gratitude to the HoD, faculty coordinators, and students for their active participation and support, ensuring the program’s success.
