The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), Namakkal, in association with the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), organized a two-day workshop “MATLAB Day 2025” on 24th & 25th September 2025. The inaugural function was held at Prestige Hall, followed by parallel technical sessions conducted in AB310, Mechanical CAD Lab (T124), and Cyber Security Lab. The workshop aimed to introduce the applications of MATLAB in engineering problem-solving, simulation, and research.
The event began with the welcome address by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, who emphasized the importance of MATLAB in modern engineering applications. Dr. R. Mohanapriya, Head of the Department, was also present and played a key role in organizing the event. Distinguished resource speaker Er. Gowtham Rajmohan (Technical Manager, ARK Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai), Dr. V. Karthikeyan (Senior Associate Engineer, ARK Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai), and Mr. Subajith Goswami (Customer Success Specialist, MathWorks) were introduced and honoured. In the inaugural session, keynote speaker Er. Gowtham Rajmohan highlighted the growing importance of MATLAB in in Engineering and emerging applications, essential career skills, and its role in advancing research.
The sessions were scheduled for different departments such as CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Food Technology, Chemical, Agriculture, Biotech, Fire Safety, Biomedical, and R&A, enabling a wider reach among students across disciplines. In total, 1,459 students from various departments and 62 faculty members participated in the workshop, reflecting its broad impact and relevance. The workshop included demonstrations and hands-on training where participants explored MATLAB for data analysis, visualization, system modeling, IoT applications, and machine learning. Students actively engaged in practical sessions, gaining a clear understanding of how MATLAB can be applied in both academic projects and industrial research. Faculty onboarding sessions were also conducted to encourage integration of MATLAB-based learning into classroom teaching and research activities.
The two-day program witnessed enthusiastic participation and served as a platform for knowledge sharing and skill development. The event concluded with positive feedback from both students and faculty, marking it as a successful initiative towards strengthening technical expertise at Paavai Engineering College. The workshop concluded on 25th September 2025 with a valedictory session. Participants were appreciated for their active involvement. The event was organized by Dr. S. Vijayakumar, Dr. K. Thirumala Lakshmi, Mr. S. Vijayakumar, and Mrs. S. Vijaya.
