The World Cotton Day 2025 Awareness Pledge was conducted on 7th October 2025 across Paavai Engineering College, Paavai College of Engineering, and Paavai Polytechnic College. The program aimed to create awareness about the importance of cotton, promote sustainable cotton practices, and encourage students to adopt responsible consumption habits.
Students from the Department of Agricultural Engineering visited all classes in the three institutions and guided their peers to take the awareness pledge, committing to:
• Use cotton products responsibly
• Support sustainable and locally produced cotton
• Reduce wastage and promote eco-friendly alternatives
Dr. B. Kailashkumar, M.Tech., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, highlighted the environmental and economic significance of cotton and encouraged students to practice sustainability in their daily lives. Er. U. Karthickeya, B.E. (Agri.), M.E., PGD A&LD, Assistant Professor cum Farm Superintendent and Coordinator – Paavai Organic Farming, provided insights on the pledge, explaining how individual actions can contribute to sustainability and promote eco-conscious habits among peers.
The awareness pledge was successfully implemented with the active participation of students from all classes, creating a strong sense of responsibility towards sustainable cotton practices. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by P. Yogaraj, IV Year, Student Secretary – Agricultural Engineering, who expressed gratitude to the HoD, faculty coordinators, and participating students for ensuring the success of the program.
