In commemoration of the birthday of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Department of Civil Engineering organized Constructors Club events to celebrate his remarkable legacy and inspire students. The events began with a tribute ceremony on October 15th, addressed by Shri C.A. N.V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions, who highlighted the significance of Dr. Kalam’s values and vision. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent of Paavai Educational Institutions, offered her felicitations to the gathering, further motivating the students and faculty members.
A meaningful moment during the ceremony was the Oath-Taking session, where all the Directors, Principals, Deans, Heads of Departments, staff members, and Civil Engineering students came together to take a solemn oath in honour of Dr. Kalam’s values and vision. This collective commitment to follow his ideals and contribute to the nation’s progress added a profound sense of unity to the event.
A total of 119 first-year students actively participated in the club events. The students gained practical exposure to identifying and mitigating blind spots in civil structures and design. They were encouraged to contribute ideas and solutions aligned with sustainable and safe civil engineering practices. Eight teams from the first year participated in both the Blind Spot and Build Your Own events, which were actively and successfully organized by the final-year Civil Engineering students.

These four teams were awarded certificates and appreciated by Prof. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Civil Engineering Department.
