A one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Interactive Session on How to Write Research Article” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), on 28.10.2025.
Prof. Dr. R. R. Krishnamurthy, M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Tech., Ph.D., Director, Centre for Research, Paavai Educational Institutions, Namakkal, served as the resource person. He explained in detail how to write a research article and publish book chapters. He emphasized that writing a good research paper begins with identifying a unique research problem, followed by setting a clear objective, adopting a proper methodology, and performing accurate data analysis.
He highlighted the importance of organizing the paper systematically with sections such as abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. He also explained how papers are reviewed in reputed journals through the peer-review process, where experts evaluate the originality, quality, and contribution of the work before publication. Similarly, he discussed how books and book chapters undergo editorial and academic reviews to ensure authenticity, relevance, and quality.
Dr. Krishnamurthy encouraged faculty members to publish in indexed journals, maintain academic integrity, and strictly avoid plagiarism. His session provided valuable insights into effective research writing, publication ethics, and journal selection, motivating the participants to contribute quality research to the academic community.
Prof. K. Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Mrs. B. Karthiga, AP/Civil, and Mr. N. Moorthi, AP/Civil, served as the faculty coordinators. Around 30 faculty members from various departments, along with the HoD, actively participated in this FDP.
