The Department of Agricultural Engineering, in association with Paavai Velaan Mandram, organized a Guest Lecture on the theme “Farming with Nature – Organic Solution for Global Hunger” on 16th October 2025 at Kalam’s Chamber, to commemorate World Food Day 2025. The programme aimed to enlighten students on the importance of sustainable and organic agricultural practices as a means to address global hunger while maintaining ecological integrity and soil health.
The event commenced with an Invocation Song rendered by Ms. Rashmika R. S., IV Year, Department of Agricultural Engineering, which created an auspicious and inspiring atmosphere for the session.
Dr. B. Kailashkumar, Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering, delivered the Welcome Address, emphasizing the necessity of adopting sustainable agricultural techniques that harmonize traditional farming wisdom with modern scientific advancements to ensure long-term food security.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. K. K. Ramasamy, Director – Administration, Paavai Educational Institutions. In his address, he reflected on the institutional vision of nurturing environmentally conscious citizens and encouraged students to perceive agriculture not merely as a profession but as a noble service to humanity. He highlighted that sustainable agriculture is the foundation for achieving a world free from hunger and malnutrition.
The Chief Guest, Dr. K. Mohanasundaram (B.Sc., PGDCA., Tech–Agri., D.Acu., Ph.D.), Founder, Navadhanya Naturals, Rasipuram, Namakkal, delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on the role of organic and natural farming in achieving global food security. He elaborated on eco-friendly cultivation methods, soil regeneration, water conservation, and the integration of indigenous farming knowledge with contemporary technologies. He urged students to adopt organic farming as both a sustainable livelihood and an ethical responsibility toward environmental conservation.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Mr. U. Karthickeya, Assistant Professor (FS/Agri), and Mr. R. Gopikrishnan, Teaching Research Associate (Agri), under the supervision of the Head of the Department. All the faculty members of the Department of Agricultural Engineering attended the event, which further enhanced its academic value and ensured its successful conduct.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. P. Yogaraj, IV Year, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Student Secretary, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Management, the Director – Administration, the Chief Guest, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support. The event was an inspiring observance of World Food Day 2025 at Paavai Engineering College, promoting awareness of sustainable agriculture and its significance in addressing global hunger.
