Paavai Engineering College in association with Pavai arts and Science College for Women hosted a one day International Conference titled ‘Unlocking Treasures: Exploring English Literature, Language, and Teaching’ on 07.01.26 in Brilliant Hall. The event commenced with a Prayer Song and Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by lighting the Kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries. M.Rakshitha, II-CSE (AI & ML), PEC welcomed the gathering and the introduction of the chief guest, given by M.J.Neaha Shree, IV CSE(IOT), PEC. Shri. CA.N.V. Natarajan, Founder and Chairman, Paavai Institutions presided over the function. The Chairman honoured the chief guest, Dr. T. S.Varadharajan, Assistant Professor, (SG) and Research Supervisor from Thiagarajar College, Madurai with a memento and presided over the function. In his presidential address, the Chairman stated that the conference offered an eminent platform for scholars, educators, and academicians to engage in an in-depth exploration of the various facets of English Language and Literature. Furthermore, he underscored the significance of the English language in the contemporary globalized context and stressed the necessity of attaining effective and proficient communication skills and released the conference proceedings.
The conference served as a platform for academic exchange, bringing together global experts, faculty members, and students to discuss the evolving landscape of English education. The program was designed to explore the treasures of the English language, specifically focusing on the intersection of traditional literature and modern pedagogical techniques in teaching. Research papers were submitted by the scholars and faculty members across the globe, 27 research articles were earmarked for publication in Roots Journal. Shortlisted 55 papers were published in the conference proceedings with ISBN number. Papers were presented by the scholars through offline and online during the Conference.
The chief guest Dr. T. S. Varadharajan, Assistant Professor (SG) and Research Supervisor from Thiagarajar College, Madurai highlighted the importance of research-driven teaching methodologies within the PG and Research Department of English. Throughout the sessions, participants actively participated, facilitating a meaningful exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Dr. Ramadevi Sakhamuri, Professor, Centre for Preparatory Studies from Dhofar University, Oman was the keynote speaker for the afternoon session provided attendees with a global outlook on English as a second language and preparatory education strategies. Her address stood as a guiding beacon for educators and scholars, fostering inspiration and reinforcing a renewed commitment to excellence in the field of English education.
The conference concluded as a significant milestone for the Department of English by integrating insights from the Speakers, the institution reinforced its dedication to academic excellence and global connectivity. The event not only enriched the knowledge of the student but also provided the faculty with new frameworks for exploring language and literature in a modern context. The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by S.Srishanth, II Cyber Security, PEC. Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director Admin, Dr. M.Premkumar Principal, PEC, Dr. N. Ezhili, Senior Principal, PASCW, Dr.M.Revathi, Principal, PASCW, Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics, Heads of various departments and the staff members of Paavai Engineering and Pavai Arts and Science College for Women graced the occasion with their presence.
