The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Paavai Engineering College, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Computer Society of India (CSI), and the Software Development & Information Management Club, organized a Guest Lecture on “Problem Solving and Ideation for Startup & Entrepreneur” on 12.02.2026 at Kalam’s Chamber. The objective of the session was to create awareness among students about entrepreneurship, innovative thinking, and real-world problem solving. It aimed to develop students’ ideation skills and encourage them to identify practical solutions to everyday challenges.
The program commenced with a prayer song by the students. The welcome address was delivered by E. Rajashree, II Year CSE. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. He emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and encouraged students to develop innovative ideas that can solve real-life problems and contribute meaningfully to society.
The keynote address was delivered by Kaveen Prasannamoorthy, Entrepreneur and Corporate Trainer, CEO of Unborn and Infraspot Solutions Private Limited, Chennai. The session began with a practical explanation of entrepreneurship, including the concept of a turf-based application, demonstrating how simple ideas can be transformed into viable business opportunities. An interesting example related to the discovery of the ice-cream cone was also shared to illustrate how innovation can emerge from creative thinking and real-world needs.
The speaker delivered a highly interactive and motivational session focusing on ideation in entrepreneurship. He shared his real-life experiences as an entrepreneur and explained the importance of identifying genuine problems before developing solutions. Students were actively involved in activities such as framing problem statements and evaluating whether those problems were valid and meaningful. The best problem statements were appreciated and rewarded with gifts, which encouraged active participation and creative thinking.
The session also included discussions on real-life challenges and innovative solutions. One such example was the issue of waiting in long supermarket queues, for which the speaker explained the concept of an e-trolley system implemented in the United States. He further discussed the origins and growth of successful service platforms like Rapido and Uber to demonstrate how startups emerge by effectively solving everyday problems.
Students actively participated throughout the session, interacted with the speaker, and gained valuable insights into entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and problem solving. The lecture inspired students to think like entrepreneurs and motivated them to develop projects based on real-world needs.
