A one-day Guest Lecture on the title “INNOVATIONS AND PROSPECTS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) on 10.03.2023. Ms.P.N.Thenswetha, Third year student welcomed the gathering. Mr.R.Surya, Final year student introduced the chief guest.
Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics, Paavai Engineering College delivered her presidential address on this event, she elaborated about the Contribution of Civil Engineers in the development of Construction sector. Mrs.K.Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department introduced the speaker and gave an overview about the need for Innovations in construction Industry.
Er.P.Soundarapandian, Senior Section Engineer, Southern Railways, Salem Division was the resource speaker.
He briefed about the various World Wonders and Construction features behind that, what are the challenges Civil Engineers faced while constructing various structures. Also he explained about effective usage of waste in construction industry. Finally he explained about various job opportunities available in different government sectors and gave some web links related to the jobs.. Faculty members and students actively participated in the Guest Lecture and queries from the students were effectively replied by the speaker. Feedback by the students were received.

Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.R.Sharumathi, Third year student and the session was very interactive and knowledgeable.
Prof.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Mrs.S.Rajeswari AP/Civil and Mr.M.Rajkannan, AP/Civil Faculty coordinators along with faculty members, and around 90 participants were present in Guest Lecture.
