A workshop was organized by Paavai Engineering College on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” on 16.11.2019. The function started with the prayer song. Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration, Paavai Institutions, presided over the function. In his presidential address, he insisted the faculty to utilize IPR platforms to improve their creativity by narrating a short of “365 dish for 365 days”.Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan, BE (Mechanical)., ME (Industrial)., MBA., FIE., PhD., DSc., Dean (R&D), New Horizon College of Engineering, Bangalore, was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College and faculty members from various departments of Paavai institutions were present. Ms.C.Sowmiya, Third Year ECE, welcome the gathering. Ms.R.Abinaya, Third Year ECE, introduced the Chief Guest. Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration, Paavai Institutions, greeted the guest speakers with bouquets and mementos. Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan explained about the importance of IPR in recent world. He discussed on different aspects of Intellectual Properties like what is a Patent, Patent Rights, Trademarks, and Industrial Design .he showed different videos and explained 7D plus video simulator ride “on wheels”: screen portion after expansion. He concluded the talk by explaining the rationale of protection, the nature of IPR and monopoly rights. He emphasized that IPR have to be renewed from time to time for keeping them enforced except in case of copyright and trade secrets and also he told the faculty about ISBN Number and Ham Club. Students of New Horizon College of Engineering share their information about “CANSAT”satellite. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks given by Ms.M.Shanmika, Third Year IT.
