A program with the topic of “Awareness Program on Internships/Higher Studies in Taiwan Universities and NUS” was organized by the ‘Centre for Foreign Studies’ on 30.01.2024 in Kalam’s Chamber. The objective of the program was to create awareness among the students of Paavai about doing Internships and higher studies in foreign countries and particularly in Taiwan National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College was the key speaker. Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Head – IQAC and Centre for Foreign Studies and Mr. Mohammed Riyaz, an alumni of Paavai Engineering College and at present doing M.S in Yuan Ze University of Taiwan also addressed the students.
Dr.M.Premkumar, in his elaborate speech, explained about the association of Paavai with foreign universities, ties established with Taiwan Universities through MoUs and visit of professors from foreign universities to Paavai campus during Indo – Taiwan Summit. He further told that Paavai is exploring avenues to collaborate with many foreign universities in different countries. Moreover he said that Taiwan universities have advanced labs on par with Western universities and also possess good world rankings. Such universities offering M.S with 100% scholarships and monthly stipends to our economically backward students is a boon and should be grabbed to reach great heights in life. He urged students to utilize the foreign opportunities provided by Paavai which would change their life-styles and bring good fortunes.
Dr.K. Sundaramurthy, shared his Taiwan experiences as he accompanied the Internship students during their visit. He talked at length about the friendliness and helping tendency of Taiwan people, cleanliness, safety and technological advancements that the country offers. He also told that Taiwan universities are the best bet for middle-class students aspiring for foreign studies.
Mr. Mohammed Riyaz, shared his experiences as M.S student in Taiwan like educational system, financial assistance, food choices, life-style etc. He answered the questions of students about admission procedure, scholarships, expenses, job opportunities and language issues.
Large number of students from various departments along with their faculty members took part in the program and found the inputs very insightful and informative. Dr. V.Subburam,Coordinator – Centre for Foreign Studies took care of the arrangement for the program.
