The Computer Science departments of Paavai Engineering Colleges conducted a two day in-house Faculty Development Programme on the title, ‘Python Programming’ on 28.11.2018 & 29.11.2018. The resource persons were Mr. M. Muthuraja, AP/CSE/PCT, Mrs. B. M. Brinda, AP/CSE/PCE, Ms. S. Kumutha, AP/CSE/PCE, and Mrs. M.Faritha Begam, AP/CSE/PCT. The faculty members of CSE department, IT Department and MCA Department of Paavai Engineering College, Paavai College of Engineering, Pavai College of Technology, attended this FDP. Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics, welcomed the faculty members and motivated the faculty members to learn the new languages under the developing technologies and interact with the IT world. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering college in his presidential address gave a noteworthy quote that “Be a Leader or Be with a Leader” and Dr.R.KasthuriBai Dean –Faculty Development stated that knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied. Hence the faculty members must make use of the FDP and get benefited. The first day session on 28.11.2018 was handled by Mr.M.Muthuraja on the topic ‘Basics of Python’. In his session he gave a brief introduction about the Language and a detailed review of the history of language. He also elaborated on the basic data types of Python and its usages. On the second day, (29.11.2018), the first session on the topic ‘File and Modules’ was handled by Ms.S.Kumutha. She explained the concept of file inclusion and permission that set on the file. This session focused on creating one’s own module on Python. The next session was handled by Mrs.B.M.Brinda on the topic, ‘Packages & Pygames’. She gave a detailed explanation of the advantages of packages and the different ways to define a package and also how it works practically. Sample programs were also discussed under this topic. The two day FDP became an exclusive forum to discuss and extend the knowledge of the faculty members on the Python Programming Platform. About 30 members attended the Programme. Dr.A.Suphalakshmi, HOD/CSE/PEC, and Dr.S.Anthoniraj, HOD/CSE/PCE were present during the session and supported the faculty members.
