The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) hadorganized anonline webinaron “Opto Electronics – Light sources and Display devices” on 13thMarch2021. Ms.P.Durga,Final year ECEgave the welcome note.Mr.Yuthan, Third year ECE ,introduced the Chief Guest,Dr.L.Bharathi, Professor& Head ,ECE, Ramachandra College of Engineering, Andhra Pradesh.
In his lecture,he gave an introduction about semiconductors and photonics. He elucidated about the Light sources and display devices such as Light emitting diode and LASER with its detailed operation. He explained about the types of LED structures and its applications in various arenas. He also highlighted the importance of various other display devices such as CRT,LCD and different photo detectors such as Photodiode, Photo transistors and Photo multipliers.He also added that “Optical Technology” will be the future of all developments in this field. Finally,he clarified the queries posted by the students at the end of the session.
