A FDP on ‘Training Programme on Fundamentals of Computational Fluid Dynamics’ was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CAD laboratory in Paavai Engineering College campus on 24.11.2018 under the Indo-UK Higher Education Partnership Programme for quality development through academic trainings. These programmes impart hands-on training on industry-oriented courses like Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS, CFD to develop domain knowledge through practice. The resource person was Mr.A.CHAKRAPANI, Manager-Operations, ACRI Info Tech, Bangalore. He is a renowned analyst who is working on industrial problems through Computational Fluid Dynamics to solve them. The inaugural function held in this connection was presided over by the Principal, Paavai Engineering College, Dr. M. Premkumar. Faculty members of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering from various Paavai Institutions participated in the programme. The Principal, in his presidential address urged the participants to utilize the opportunity to update their knowledge in the domain of Computational Fluid Dynamics as this would be the base for solving industrial probelems in the future. The invited speaker Mr.A.CHAKRAPANI begun his lecture by explaining the fundamentals of fluid dynamics and all the terminology associated with it through power point presentation. The training course included hands-on training in which he solved one dimensional fluid flow analysis and internal heat generation problems and explained the various steps involved in applying CFD effectively. He cleared the doubts individually and helped the participants in solving different types of problems using ANSYS workbench. The training programme was interesting, informative and interactive. The sessions were beneficial to the participants which was clear from the enthusiasm they expressed during interactions. The sesseion came to an end with vote of thanks.
