Paavai Engineering College in association with Pavai arts and Science College for Women hosted a remarkable Conference titled ‘Unlocking Treasures: Exploring English Literature, Language, and Teaching’ on 27.03.24. The event commenced with a Prayer Song and Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by lighting the Kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries. Ms.B.Janani, I MA English, PASCW welcomed the gathering and the introduction of the chief guest, given by Ms. S. Devadharshini, III CSE, PEC. CA.N.V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Institutions presided over the function. The Chairman honoured the chief guest, Dr. S. Jerald Sagaya Nathan, Professor, Dept. of English, St. Joseph’s College, Trichy with a shawl and memento and presided over the function. In his presidential address, the Chairman expressed that the conference provided a platform for scholars, educators, and enthusiasts to delve into various aspects of English Language and Literature. Besides, he stressed the importance of English Language in this globalising world and the necessity of speaking it effectively. Around 200 participants, including 40 presenters across India, the event aimed to foster insightful discussions and exchanges.
The conference featured a rich array of presentations covering a wide spectrum of topics within the realms of English Literature, Language, and Teaching. Among the presenters were four scholars from Kolkata, affiliated to Brainware University, West Bengal whose presentations offered profound insights into various facets of English studies. Their contributions added depth and richness to the discourse, reflecting the intellectual rigor and innovative approaches fostered at their institution.
The chief guest Dr.Jerald emphasized the need for innovative teaching methodologies to foster critical thinking and cultural understanding. His insight underscored the significance of language acquisition and literary analysis in shaping well-rounded individuals. Dr.Preethi Tewari, Professor, Dept. of English, Llyod Law College, New Delhi (NCR) was the keynote speaker for the afternoon session. The chief guest in her keynote address, provided valuable insights into the significance of English studies in contemporary society. She emphasized the need for innovative approaches to teaching and learning English, highlighting its role in fostering critical thinking and cultural understanding. Her address served as a guiding beacon for educators and scholars alike, inspiring a renewed commitment to excellence in English education.

The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms.S. AArthi, III CSE, PEC followed by the National Anthem. Deans, Principals, Heads of various departments and the staff members of Paavai Institutions graced the occasion with their presence.
