The Institution’s Innovation Council of Paavai Engineering College organized a workshop on “Prototype/Process Design and Development” on 7th May 2025. The resource person for the session was Dr. K. Vanchinathan, M.E., Ph.D., IIC Convener and Professor in the Department of EEE, Velalar College of Engineering and Technology, Erode, Tamil Nadu.
The guest lecture was coordinated by Dr. T. Arun Kumar along with Dr. S. Rajasekaran and other faculty members. Dr. K. Selvi, Dean – Academic, Paavai Engineering College, delivered the Presidential Address on the occasion.
Mr. V.M. Neeraj, a third-year Biomedical Engineering student, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. K. Vanchinathan.
During the session, the guest speaker shared valuable insights on Prototype and Process Design, illustrating the concepts with several examples. He elaborated on the differences between Design Thinking and Innovation Design, and highlighted various government and private schemes that support innovation design initiatives.
Dr. Vanchinathan also explained how an individual can transition from Innovation Design to Entrepreneurship, and how a prototype can evolve into a startup. He emphasized that even school students are capable of generating innovative ideas that can be transformed into successful startups.
The session was energetic, interactive, and highly informative, with active participation from both students and faculty. Dr. Vanchinathan patiently answered all the questions posed by the students.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. A. Sahaana Shree, a third-year Biomedical Engineering student of Paavai Engineering College.
