The Department of Chemical Engineering, in association with The Institution of Engineers (India), organized an Alumni Guest Lecture titled “Career Opportunities for Chemical Engineers” on 24.04.2025.
The welcome address was delivered by P. Karthik, a second-year Chemical Engineering student, followed by B. Rishi, also from the second year, who introduced the chief guest.
The alumni speaker for the session was Mr. A. Akash, Technology Transfer Executive at OmniActive Health Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hosur. He shared valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available for chemical engineers across various sectors including the chemical industry, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and paint manufacturing.
Mr. Akash elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of chemical engineers in these fields and highlighted value-added courses and software tools beneficial for students of chemical and food technology. He encouraged students to pursue their goals with determination and shared real-time examples along with basic concepts of Chemical Engineering to deepen their understanding.
The session saw enthusiastic participation from around 65 students, who actively engaged and had their queries answered by the speaker. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by A. Micheal Stive, a second-year Chemical Engineering student.
The event was graced by the convener, Dr. R. Balasuramani, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Alumni Coordinator, Ms. P. Indhumathi, Assistant Professor. Faculty members from the department and students from both Chemical and Food Technology also attended the session.
