The Department of Aeronautical Engineering organized an online Alumni Guest Lecture on the topic “The Digital Flight Path: A Career in Aerospace with SAP” on 15.10.2025 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The lecture was delivered by Mr. V. Navinkumar, Associate SAP (MM/SD) Consultant, Applexus Technologies Pvt Ltd, Chennai. The session was conducted on a virtual platform, enabling students and faculty members to interact seamlessly with the alumnus. The primary objective of the lecture was to provide students with a clear understanding of the opportunities available in the aerospace sector with a focus on digital solutions using SAP. The session aimed to guide students on how to integrate technical knowledge in aerospace engineering with digital tools, prepare for industry-relevant roles, and adopt effective strategies for career development in modern aerospace and aviation industries.
Mr. Navinkumar began the session by sharing his professional journey, highlighting the transition from an academic background in aerospace engineering to a successful career in SAP consultancy. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and skill enhancement in keeping up with evolving industry demands. He explained how SAP modules such as MM (Materials Management) and SD (Sales and Distribution) are utilized in aerospace projects for efficient resource planning, supply chain management, and streamlined operational processes. The lecture included practical examples of aerospace operations where SAP solutions have optimized project management, reduced operational bottlenecks, and enhanced decision-making. Mr. Navinkumar also discussed emerging trends in digital aerospace management, the role of ERP systems in the industry, and the significance of aligning technical knowledge with digital competencies to achieve professional success.Students actively engaged in the session by asking questions related to career pathways, skill development, industry expectations, and the practical application of SAP in aerospace projects. The session concluded with an interactive discussion on how aspiring aerospace engineers can leverage digital tools and software to build impactful careers, underscoring the importance of innovation, problem-solving, and professional adaptability.
The event was organized under the guidance of Professor & Head, Dr. R. Arravind and coordinated by Assistant Professor Mr. K. Gokulnath. The lecture successfully provided students with valuable insights into the intersection of aerospace engineering and digital enterprise solutions, inspiring them to explore career opportunities in this emerging domain.
