The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), organized a one-day alumni webinar titled “Higher Studies Abroad – Choosing the Right Path” on 13th May 2025.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Sunil Kumar, a second-year student, followed by an introduction of the Chief Guest by Ms. R. Priyadharshini, also a second-year student.
Mrs. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department, introduced the distinguished alumni speaker, Mr. Akash Marimuthu Kannan, who is pursuing an M.S. in Engineering Management at California State University, Northridge, Los Angeles, CA.
Mr. Akash provided valuable insights into pursuing higher studies abroad, covering key aspects such as preparing for entrance exams, selecting the right universities, securing scholarships, obtaining education loans, and understanding life abroad. He also discussed diverse global career opportunities and offered practical advice to help students make well-informed decisions about their future.
The webinar saw active participation from both faculty members and students, with Mr. Akash effectively addressing queries raised by the attendees.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Jannathul Roshini, a second-year student. The session was highly interactive and informative.
The event was attended by Prof. K. Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Mrs. B. Karthiga, AP/Civil, Faculty Coordinator, along with faculty members and approximately 70 participants.
