The Department of Mechatronics Engineering of Paavai Engineering College organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Cyber Security in Mechatronics” on 15th October 2025 through an online platform. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the increasing importance of cyber security in modern mechatronic systems, drawing insights from an experienced alumnus.
The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by M. G. Dhanishkar, III year MCT student, followed by the introduction of the resource speaker by S. K. Kiran, III year MCT student. The session was led by Mr. M. Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Pargavan Cyber Solutions, Salem.
In his address, Mr. Rajkumar highlighted the vulnerabilities and threats associated with interconnected mechatronic devices and emphasized the critical role of cyber security in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of automated and robotic systems. He introduced students to real-world applications of cyber security practices in industrial automation and control systems, encouraging them to adopt secure design principles and explore career opportunities in cyber-physical system security.
He also shared valuable advice on networking, professional growth, and adapting to career changes, stressing the importance of continuous learning, upskilling, and strategic career advancement. His insights on overcoming challenges and staying motivated were particularly inspiring for the participants.
The interactive session witnessed the participation of around 70 students, who actively engaged by posing insightful questions, which were effectively addressed by the resource speaker.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by V. Kathiravan, III year MCT student. The successful coordination of the event was led by Dr. D. R. P. Rajarathnam, Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, and Mr. R. Arunbabu, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechatronics Engineering.
The guest lecture inspired students to pursue interdisciplinary research and projects focusing on secure automation. Overall, the program strengthened the participants’ knowledge base and preparedness to address cyber security challenges in advanced mechatronic applications.
