A one-day Alumni Webinar titled “Exploring IT Careers in Civil Engineering” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), on 11th December 2024.
The event began with a warm welcome address by Mr. M. Dhanush, a third-year student. This was followed by Ms. R. Priyadharshini, a second-year student, introducing the Chief Guest.
Mrs. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department, provided an insightful introduction to the speaker and highlighted the numerous job opportunities available in the field of Civil Engineering. The alumni resource speaker, Er. S. Sushmaa, Senior Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, shared her expertise during the session.
She emphasized the relevance of Information Technology in Civil Engineering and discussed the diverse career prospects in the field. Additionally, she provided insights into several software applications that are essential for Civil Engineering professionals. The webinar concluded with students gaining valuable knowledge about the integration of IT and Civil Engineering.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students. Queries raised by the students were effectively addressed by the speaker, making the session highly interactive and enriching.
The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Jannathul Roshini, a second-year student.
In attendance were Prof. K. Sharmiladevi (HoD/Civil), Mrs. B. Karthiga (AP/Civil), faculty coordinators, and other faculty members, along with approximately 62 participants.
