The Department of Mechatronics Engineering and the Department of Robotics & Automation, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), organized a Field / Exposure Visit on 19th February 2026.
The visit was arranged with the objective of providing students practical exposure to innovation ecosystems, pre-incubation activities, and emerging technologies related to Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation.
Resource Persons
The session was handled by Mr. Ajay and Ms. Dhivya, Master Trainers from PSG College of Technology.
Participants
Approximately 20 students, along with faculty members, participated in the exposure visit.
Session Highlights
The resource persons delivered an insightful session on:
Innovation-driven product development
Start-up opportunities for engineering students
Importance of incubation and pre-incubation support
Real-time industrial applications of robotics and automation systems
Interdisciplinary engineering practices
Students gained knowledge about:
Innovation process and idea validation
Role of incubation and pre-incubation centres
Industry expectations and required technical skills
Product development lifecycle
Funding opportunities and the start-up ecosystem
An interactive session was also conducted, during which students clarified their doubts regarding career opportunities, research prospects, and start-up development.
Outcome
The field exposure visit significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of industrial practices and innovation ecosystems. It encouraged innovative thinking and motivated them towards research, entrepreneurship, and product development.
Overall, the visit was highly informative and beneficial. It helped students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications, and inspired them to explore emerging technologies and start-up initiatives.
