Guest Lecture on “Bridging Research and Innovation: Pathways to Sustainable Development” on 15th October 2025. The event commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a formal welcome address. The gathering included faculty members and students from the Department of Food Technology. The welcome address was delivered by M. Mithra Devi, a third-year student of the Department of Food Technology.
Dr. P. Karthik, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Food Technology, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, was the distinguished guest speaker for the session. The lecture aimed to inspire students and faculty to envision the practical applications of their research, fostering a mindset oriented toward creating sustainable and impactful solutions. It offered a compelling exploration of emerging technologies in food science.
Dr. Karthik began by highlighting the transformative potential of 3D printing in food technology, demonstrating how it enables personalized nutrition, innovative food textures, and creative culinary presentations. Moving on to biofortification, he emphasized its role in combating micronutrient deficiencies through nutritionally enhanced crops such as iron-rich millet and zinc-fortified rice. He further discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence in food systems, illustrating its applications in predictive analytics, food safety monitoring, and smart supply chain management.
The lecture underscored the importance of interdisciplinary research and innovation in achieving sustainable development goals, leaving the audience inspired to pursue cutting-edge advancements in food technology.
