The Department of CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) successfully organized an online Guest Lecture on the topic “From Syntax to Semantics: A Journey through Natural Language Processing” on 23rd August 2025 at 7:30 p.m. The session was conducted virtually and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students of the department.
The event featured Dr. R. Kamalraj, Professor, School of Computer Science and IT, Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Bengaluru, as the esteemed speaker. Drawing from his extensive experience with AI tools and research insights, Dr. Kamalraj provided a comprehensive overview of Artificial Intelligence, Phases of NLP, and NLP Bots.
The session commenced with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Mr. M. Ruthran (III Year, CSE–AI&ML), who introduced the speaker and set the tone for the event. Dr. Kamalraj then delivered a highly engaging and informative presentation, highlighting real-world projects and their applications in understanding user conversations.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students actively raised questions and explored various aspects of AI applications and career pathways. The event wrapped up with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. S. Darshan (II Year, CSE–AI&ML), who expressed gratitude to the speaker, organizers, and participants.
The lecture successfully broadened the students’ understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications across sectors, inspiring many to consider integrating NLP into their future project proposals.
