The Department of Information Technology organized a hackathon titled “Vibex 1.0 – Vibe Coding Hackathon” in association with the Google Developer Group (GDGoC) on 5 January 2026 at the Prestige Hall.
The event received an overwhelming response, with more than 70 innovative ideas submitted by students working in teams. From these, 10 outstanding ideas were shortlisted for the final round.
Mr. K. Rajesh, a final-year IT student, welcomed the gathering.The presidential address was delivered by Prof.Dr.R.R.Krishnamurthy, Director,Centre for Research,Paavai Educational Institutions, who encouraged students to actively participate and enhance their knowledge through various technical activities. He shared valuable insights, emphasizing that education is not about marks alone. He stressed that students should focus on gaining knowledge, skills, and values rather than only examination scores. He also highlighted that discipline leads to success, and regular habits, punctuality, and self-control shape a student’s future. He further motivated the students to pursue certificate courses and develop real-world projects. Nearly 50 participants benefited from the hackathon.
A keynote address was delivered by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, who inspired the students with his motivating words and stressed the importance of innovation and continuous learning. Mrs Kamala Krishnamurthy, PIF Head, who meticulously evaluated the students’ ideas and provided invaluable insights to enhance them. From the final round, 3 best teams were selected and forwarded to the next level for further advancement.
