The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Energy Club organized a Hands-on Training Programme on “EV Battery Assembly, Spot Welding & BMS Connection” from 09th to 11th October 2025. The event was designed to provide students with practical exposure to electric vehicle (EV) battery technology, a rapidly evolving and crucial area in sustainable energy and transportation.
The training session covered the following key modules:
• Introduction to EV Battery Technologies
• Battery Cell Classification and Handling Procedures
• Hands-on Assembly of EV Battery Packs
• Spot Welding Techniques for Battery Cells
• Battery Management System (BMS) Integration and Configuration
• Safety Protocols and Testing Procedures
The session was led by Mr. R. Satheeshkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, along with his team of IV year EEE students — A. Sasi Prakash, G. Harish, and M. S. Padmasharan — who possess hands-on experience in EV systems. Participants had the opportunity to work directly with battery cells, learn precise spot welding techniques, and integrate BMS systems.
The interactive nature of the programme helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. Students participated enthusiastically and gained valuable insights into the future of electric mobility.
The session was attended by II, III, and IV year EEE students. Dr. G. Balaji, Professor and Head of the Department of EEE, along with Assistant Professors Dr. S. Suganya and Mr. R. Satheeshkumar, made the necessary arrangements for organizing the programme. The role of Master of Ceremonies was managed by M. S. Padmasharan, a IV year EEE student.
