The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Paavai Engineering College organized an Orientation Programme for all first and second-year NSS volunteers on 28th April 2025. Thiru V. Kannan, Assistant Director (Retired), Rural Development Department, Namakkal, was the Chief Guest for the event.
The function commenced with a prayer song invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Mr. S. Sivasubra Manikandan, a third-year ECE student, delivered the welcome address.
The event was presided over by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. In his presidential address, he emphasized the importance of social responsibility and service to society. He encouraged the volunteers to contribute actively through selfless service.
The Chief Guest, Thiru V. Kannan, delivered an insightful speech on community service and its benefits. He shared valuable knowledge on rural development and inspired students by narrating his real-life experiences.
Mr. C. Rathnakumar, NSS Programme Officer, delivered a detailed presentation on the History of NSS, its Motto, the significance of the NSS Symbol and Badge, and the aims and objectives of NSS. He also outlined the roles and responsibilities of volunteers, along with regular and special camp activities under NSS. The orientation programme successfully motivated the new volunteers, instilling in them a sense of responsibility, discipline, and enthusiasm for service.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. E. Shobika, a second-year Bio-Technology student, who expressed her gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and participants for their active involvement.
The presence of Heads of Departments, Professors, and Faculty Members made the event a grand success. NSS volunteers from the first and second years participated with great enthusiasm and benefited greatly from the programme.
