Paavai Engineering College, Centre for Research and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) hosted a seminar titled “Awareness on Outcome Based Education: Improving Quality through Measurable Learning Outcomes.” on 02.09.2025.
Professor Dr. K. S. Giridharan, Head of Rural and Entrepreneurship Development, NITTTR Chennai, served as the Resource Person for the session. The seminar began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. R. R. Krishnamurthy, Director, Centre for Research. The objective of the seminar was to raise awareness of the tenets, applications, and advantages of the OBE framework, while also equipping faculty members with the knowledge required to effectively implement it in their academic practices.

The Resource Person provided a comprehensive overview of Outcome-Based Education, highlighting its significance in shifting the focus of higher education from traditional teaching methods to a learner-centered approach. The key aspects discussed included:
The concept and principles of OBE and its alignment with global education standards
The importance of clearly defined Program Outcomes (POs), Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs), and Course Outcomes (COs)
The role of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in achieving accreditation standards such as NBA and NAAC
Practical strategies for curriculum design, assessment methods, and teaching practices in line with OBE
The benefits of OBE in enhancing employability, skill development, innovation, and lifelong learning among students
The session was highly interactive, with the Resource Person engaging participants through examples, case studies, and discussions, addressing implementation challenges and sharing best practices.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. P. Jayakarn, HoD/Chemical Engineering. The event was convened by Dr. K. Sundara Muruthy, Head–IQAC and organized by Mr. P. Vignesh, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering.
