In the presence of Shri CA.N.V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions, and Smt..Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Dr. K.K. Ramasamy, Director Admin, Principals, Dean Academics, faculty members, and over 500 enthusiastic first-year students, the grand celebration of Shakespeare day was orchestrated by the Departments of English in Paavai Institutions at Pragathi hall on 10.05.25 at 11:00 a.m. The event commenced with soul-stirring prayer song and the rendition of the Tamil Thaivazhthu, setting a reverent tone for the occasion. The dignitaries on the dias graced the event with their presence and insightful addresses. The Correspondent keenly emphasized the significance of the English language, highlighting its acquisition through innovative AI tools. She also expressed her opinion about the usage of English language in many parts of the world. She also addressed the importance of literature in understanding a nation’s history and cultural heritage.
The celebration featured a trilogy of captivating events like drama, reciting sonnets and monologue. A poignant enactment of Shakespeare’s timeless classic play ‘The Merchant of Venice’, was performed to state values and virtues of mercy and true friendship. Students mesmerized the audience with their heartfelt recitations of Shakespeare’s sonnets, drama and monologue. Nearly 30 students enacted Shakespeare’s characters on the stage with their enthusiastic and inquisitive performances. Besides, a drawing competition was also conducted, providing students an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. The vibrant artwork on display was a testament to their creativity.
The celebration concluded with Chairman expressing his heartfelt appreciation to the faculty members of Department of English for their tireless efforts and dedication. The event culminated with the vote of thanks and National Anthem, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. The motto of the celebration was to showcase students’ artistic talents, emphasis on English language and literature and the Cultural significance of Shakespeare’s works. The celebration was a resounding success, fostering a deeper appreciation for Shakespeare’s legacy and his importance contribution to the English language and literature.
