The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), organized a one-day Technical Webinar on the topic “Global Water Security: A Holistic Approach” on 04.09.2025.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, III-year student, welcomed the gathering, followed by Ms. R. Priyadharshini, III-year student, who introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, delivered the presidential address, elaborating on the wide dimensions of global water security.
Prof. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department, introduced the resource speaker and gave an overview of water security in various sectors. The resource person, Dr. J. Vijayaragavan, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, University College of Engineering, Ramanathapuram, delivered the technical session. He provided detailed insights into how global water security integrates environmental, economic, and social systems to ensure sustainable access for people and ecosystems. By adopting the Water-Energy-Food nexus, promoting participatory governance, and using innovative technologies, he emphasized moving beyond siloed management to build resilience, equity, and sustainable development.
The webinar was coordinated by Prof. K. Sharmiladevi (HoD/Civil), Mrs. S. Sowdeshwari (AP/Civil), and Mr. N. Moorthi (AP/Civil), with the support of faculty members. Around 75 participants actively took part in the session.
Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. S. Aarthi Kumari, II-year student. The one-day technical webinar concluded successfully and proved to be highly informative and enriching for the participants.
