The awareness program on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) was conducted on 5th and 6th February 2025 at CUTE Hall, with Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Head, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Paavai Engineering College, as the resource speaker. The program aimed to familiarize faculty members and stakeholders with the key concepts, parameters, and frameworks of OBE.
The program provided valuable insights into the OBE framework, emphasizing the importance of Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs), Programme Outcomes (POs), and Course Outcomes (COs). Bloom’s Taxonomy (BT) was also discussed as a classification system used to categorize learning objectives into six levels. The program highlighted the significance of mapping Course Outcomes (COs) with Programme Outcomes (POs) and assessing student attainment of COs and POs.
To take forward the learnings from the program, it is recommended that regular workshops and training programs be conducted to enhance faculty understanding and implementation of OBE. A comprehensive OBE framework should be developed for our institution, including PEOs, PSOs, POs, and COs. An action plan has been developed to implement these recommendations, which includes developing an OBE framework within the next 6 months, conducting a workshop on BT and question paper framing within the next 3 months, and implementing CO-PO mapping and assessment methods within the next 9 months.
The awareness program on OBE was successful in enhancing the understanding of faculty members and stakeholders about OBE. By implementing the recommendations and action plans, our institution can enhance student learning outcomes, achieve academic excellence, and become a role model for OBE implementation.
