The CII-IWN Campus to Career Programme was held at Paavai Engineering College on 06 March 2025, Kalam’s Chamber. The event was graced by the Director-Admin of Paavai Institutions, along with various Heads of Departments and students. The welcome address was delivered by F. Delphinaa, a third-year student from the CSE department.
The presidential address on “POSH Awareness” was delivered by Dr. K.K. Ramasamy, Director-Admin of Paavai Institutions, who emphasized the importance of hard work, heart work, and smart work in building a successful and respectful workplace. He highlighted the significance of fostering a safe and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and respected. He underscored the need for awareness regarding the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, stressing that creating a workplace free from harassment is not just a legal obligation, but also a fundamental ethical responsibility. His address urged everyone to be proactive in understanding their rights, recognizing inappropriate behaviour, and supporting a culture that promotes dignity, respect, and safety for all employees.
Mrs. Jayashree Senthil, M.A., M.L., Executive Director of Shree Renga Polyester Pvt. Ltd. and Managing Trustee of SRP Foundation, Karur, conducted an insightful session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Awareness Act for the employees of the organization. The session was aimed at informing participants about their rights under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. She focused on explaining what constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace, how to recognize inappropriate behaviours, and the mechanisms in place to address such issues. She provided detailed information about the role and responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), guiding the employees through the steps to take if they witness or experience harassment.
In her session, she stressed the importance of creating a respectful and safe working environment for all employees. She emphasized that it is not only a legal requirement but also a moral responsibility for everyone within the organization to contribute towards maintaining a harassment-free workplace. The session fostered open dialogue, allowing employees to ask questions and clarify doubts related to the act and the complaint procedure. Mrs. Senthil concluded the session by reiterating the significance of mutual respect and awareness in upholding the dignity and safety of all individuals, ensuring a culture of inclusivity and protection in the workplace.
The vote of thanks was delivered by R.Nithyashree, a second-year student from the CSE department. The session was attended by a total of 230 students and faculty members.
