The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Paavai Engineering College, organized a Guest Lecture on “Transonic and Supersonic Aerodynamics” on 24th April 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., through an online platform.
The session aimed to enhance the understanding of aerodynamics in the transonic and supersonic regimes among students and faculty members across various Paavai Institutions. More than 100 participants actively attended the session.
The objective of the guest lecture was to provide insights into the fundamental principles, flow characteristics, and design challenges encountered in transonic and supersonic flight. It also sought to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-time aerospace applications.
Dr. R. Arraavind, Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. The chief guest of the session was Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. He delivered an engaging and insightful lecture on the aerodynamic phenomena experienced in high-speed flight regimes, including shock waves, boundary layer interactions, and design considerations for transonic and supersonic aircraft.
The participants showed great interest and enthusiasm throughout the session, with several questions raised and discussed during the interactive segment. The lecture was well-received and appreciated for its clarity, relevance, and technical depth.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. S. Marypriya and Mr. K. Gokulnath, Assistant Professors of Aeronautical Engineering. The vote of thanks was delivered by S. Thrisha, a second-year Aeronautical Engineering student, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, faculty members, and participants for making the event a grand success.
