The Department of Chemical Engineering (CE), Paavai Engineering College, in association with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), jointly organized a Guest Lecture on “Emerging Trends and Cleaner Energy Concepts, Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development” on March 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in commemoration of National Pollution Control Day.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Selvi P. Yogasri, a third-year Chemical Engineering student. Following this, Selvan M. Sivabalan, also from third-year Chemical Engineering, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Srinivasan, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai.
Dr. P. Srinivasan began his lecture by discussing renewable and non-renewable energy resources, emphasizing their types and harvesting methods. He provided insights into the unique aspects and functions of solar cells and photovoltaic cells. He concluded his talk by highlighting cleaner energy techniques aimed at reducing pollution and conserving our biosphere.
The IIC Guest Lecture was organized by Mr. R. Balasubramani, Associate Professor & Head of the Department, and coordinated by Dr. K. Gopi, Associate Professor, and Ms. G. Swathi, Assistant Professor. Students from the second, third, and final years of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology actively participated in the session. A total of 105 students attended and benefited from the lecture.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Selvan B. Rishi, a second-year Chemical Engineering student.
