The Department of Chemistry organized an online Guest Lecture on “Fundamentals of Electrochemistry and Energy Storage Systems” on March 24, 2025, at 6:30 PM via the Microsoft Teams platform.
The resource person for the session was Dr. A. Kumaravel, Associate Professor, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore. The welcome address and chief guest introduction were delivered by Mr. A. Jeeva, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.
The objective of the guest lecture was to provide students with a strong understanding of electrochemical principles and their role in developing energy systems with improved efficiency. The session also emphasized the transition to sustainable batteries, supporting the global shift toward cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
As an outcome of the webinar, students gained valuable knowledge on the various applications of energy storage devices, including the adoption of battery energy storage, UPS systems, backup power solutions, industrial applications, advancements in electric mobility, electric vehicles, improved energy reliability, and cost-control methods for batteries.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. N. Vijayanand, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry. Faculty members and approximately 200 students participated in the session. Student feedback was collected for future improvements.
