A one-day Guest Lecture on “Innovations in Cold-formed Steel Concrete Composite Systems” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association & Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), on 08.03.2025.
Mr. M. Dhanush, a third-year student, welcomed the gathering, and Ms. R. Priyadharshini, a second-year student, introduced the Chief Guest.
Dr. K. K. Ramasamy, Director – Administration, Paavai Institutions, delivered the presidential address. He elaborated on the importance of Civil Engineering software and the job opportunities available for Civil Engineers worldwide.
Prof. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department, introduced the resource speaker and provided an overview of the Cold-formed Steel Concrete Composite System. The guest speaker, Dr. R. Senthilkumar, Chartered Engineer (India) and Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, shared valuable insights on the advantages of Cold-formed Steel Concrete Composite Systems compared to conventional RCC and Steel Structures. He also provided startup ideas related to Civil Engineering and demonstrated the behavior of structural frames.
By the end of the session, students had gained comprehensive knowledge about:
The event was coordinated by Prof. K. Sharmiladevi (HoD/Civil), Mrs. S. Rajeswari (AP/Civil), and Mr. P. Vignesh (AP/Civil), along with faculty members. Around 65 participants attended the session.
