The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the Institution Innovation Council, Computer Society of India (CSI), and the Software Development and Information Management Club, organized a Guest Lecture on “Role of Cloud Computing and AI in Software Engineering” on March 18, 2025.
The objective of this Guest Lecture was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming software engineering. The session aimed to equip students with knowledge on leveraging these technologies to enhance software development, automate processes, and drive innovation in real-world applications.
The welcome address was delivered by Ms. M. Kamali, a fourth-year CSE student. This was followed by the presidential address by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, who emphasized how cloud computing and AI are revolutionizing software engineering and the importance of organizing such Guest Lectures to keep students updated on emerging technologies.
The session was led by the distinguished guest speaker, Dr. M. Suresh, Co-Founder & CEO of NITInnov Technologies, Chennai. He commenced the lecture with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of cloud computing and AI, highlighting their evolution and growing significance in modern software development. He explained how cloud computing provides scalable infrastructure, cost-effective solutions, and improved accessibility for software engineering. The benefits of leading cloud-based platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud were discussed in detail.
The role of AI in enhancing software engineering processes was also emphasized. Real-world case studies and examples were shared to illustrate the practical applications of AI in software development. Additionally, the lecture addressed challenges associated with cloud-based AI solutions, including data privacy, security, and ethical considerations. Dr. Suresh also highlighted future trends in AI-driven DevOps and automated infrastructure management.
The guest lecture was highly informative, providing a clear understanding of the impact of cloud computing and AI on software engineering. It offered valuable insights into future trends and career opportunities, inspiring students and faculty members to explore these transformative technologies in their professional endeavors.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Aarthi, a fourth-year CSE student. A total of 312 students and faculty members attended the session, making it a resounding success
